Pope Benedict XVI appeals for the release of the hostages

We are grateful to the Pope, who wanted to remember in your prayers , referring to the international community to respect the rights of refugees and displaced persons.
We hope that the Pope's appeal is accepted by international authorities, particularly the Egyptian government, the only one who can intervene for the Liberation of Eritrean refugees seized in the Sinai desert, in chains for more than a month. The accounts sent to us are very serious, especially in pregnant women forced to suffer hunger and thirst, even at great risk to the fetus. The injured people were struck by the continual need of medical care, there are many others who are sick, debilitated by hunger and the constant abuse.
hope that the European states accepting the Pope's urgent appeal for the liberation and respect the rights of these displaced Eritreans, Ethiopians, Sudanese and Somalis make the necessary diplomatic steps on the Egyptian government, to enable it to react to save the life of hundreds of refugees and displaced persons nelle mani dei predoni del deserto.
Sta sera scade il secondo ultimatum dato dai sequestratori ai profughi, non sappiamo cosa potrà accadere allo scadere di questo ultimatum, sollecitiamo le autorità egiziane ad intervenire il più presto possibile.
