Postmenopausal Bleeding

"Non molesterai il forestiero né lo opprimerai perché voi siete stati forestieri in terra di Egitto” (Esodo, 22,20)

Appello di Alex Zanotelli e dei missionari comboniani al mondo missionario, alla Cei e alle chiese per chiedere la disobbedienza civile alle racist laws that establish security in the package in Italy by apartheid legislation.

We missionaries and feel obliged to react and protest the carnage taking place in the Mediterranean and the racist laws against immigrants arriving on our shores. This is a tragedy that must not leave us indifferent: thousands and thousands of Africans trying to cross to get to the Mare Nostrum nell'agognato "Eden." A journey that often ends tragically. From 2002 to 2008 have died, most of them disappeared at sea, 42 000 people, according to research conduct at Lampedusa by Giampaolo Visetti, journalist of La Repubblica. Three hundred people a day! The largest massacre in Europe after World War II that is consumed before our eyes.

And what is the government's response? Close the borders and stop this "invasion." And that is why "our" government has signed agreements with Libya and Tunisia. On January 5, 2009 because the Senate approved the treaty with the government of Libyan Gaddafi to prevent the so-called tramp steamers arrive at Lampedusa. How can I sign a treaty with a country like Libya which is so shameful that the immigrants in their own home?
On 27 January 2009, the Minister Maroni met with the Minister degli Interni tunisino per la stessa ragione.

Le situazioni di miseria e oppressione, le guerre troppo spesso dimenticate dell’Eritrea, Etiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Ciad sospingono migliaia di persone a fuggire attraverso il deserto per arrivare in Tunisia e Libia dove sono trattate come schiavi: many years of undeclared work to get money for the traverse (money that will go to the mafia). And if they can (paying € 3000-4000) to cross the Mediterranean and arrive in Lampedusa, are locked in a veritable concentration camp, the Centre of "greeting" turned on Jan. 24 in CIE (Center for identification and expulsion) a true lager, which can accommodate 900 people and instead contains 1900! Hence the terrible riots of recent days with the suicide attempts of many Tunisians who do not want to be repatriated because they know what awaits them.

All thanks to the diligence of our minister Maroni has said that one must be "bad" with immigrants. And his security package and the "evil into law," as the weekly Famiglia Cristiana. In fact, in the Security Package is declared illegal criminal. This legislation which has found fertile ground, prepared by growing racism in Italian society (so well expressed by the League!) And a law that goes from the Turkish-Napolitano (the idea of \u200b\u200btemporary detention centers) and immorality non-constitutional Bossi-Fini law, which does not recognize immigration as a subject of law, but as a labor force paid a low price, to send the item back when no longer needed.

The law provides, among other things, the possibility that Doctors denounce the illegal sick, the tax on a residence permit (from 80 to 200 €!), the "rounds" permission to stay in the points, restrictive rules on family reunification and mixed marriages, imprisonment for up to 4 years irregular that do not comply with a deportation order. Maroni has also decided to build a dozen centers for the identification and deportation, where they will be imprisoned for up to 6 months in hiding. This is a law of apartheid: the result of a political right and left has pilloried window washers, street vendors, beggars and Roma. It is a racist and xenophobic culture that is leading us into the abyss of apartheid and exclusion. All this to be oblivious We were "strangers in the land of Egypt" when so many Italians as well as the painful separation from their land, have experienced exclusion, contempt and oppression.

why we ask

to the missionaries, religious and lay persons committed to the South:
- of siding with the immigrants against a "short-sighted policy and xenophobic" and making "the dash 'Italy, the only western country, towards the abyss of racial laws, "as Famiglia Cristiana.
- to organize a penitential procession to ask for forgiveness from God and to others for migrant racism, xenophobia, to Muslim fighters as a force evil, entered the body politic of this Italy.

the Italian Bishops' Conference:
- to apply for civil disobedience to these racist laws. This was the case in 2006, in similar situations, Cardinal R. Mahoney of Los Angeles, California, who asked Ash Wednesday homily to all American Catholics to serve all immigrants, even illegal ones.

the Catholic Church and other churches in Italy:
to resume the ancient biblical practice, accepted and practiced by the Christian communities to make the temple a place of refuge to save his life, as shown in the book of Numbers 35, 10-12. Based on this biblical in the 80s United States, was born on Sanctuary Movement, which today is raised.

As missionaries and abide by the appeal of Italian anthropologists: "Quell'antropologia committed by the promise of expanding the horizons of what we consider human must notify the withdrawal authoritarian, racist, irrational and freedom-that is undermining the foundations of coexistence civil in our country, and that threatens to drain from the constitutional guarantees built 60 years ago, against the return of fascism that revealed itself to the racial laws. Maybe even then, many thought that no one would have dared so much today we must not repeat that mistake. "

We live a difficult time but full of hope as far as we are able to stake our lives for Life.
